Our Mission

Our mission is to do all in our power to promote the healthy social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and linguistic growth of the children who have been entrusted to our care.

To cultivate an atmosphere where children have a sense of safety and security.

Create an environment where students feel comfortable working together and making friends with one another.

Through the development of problem-solving and self-help skills, children will gain confidence and independence.

History

In 1980, the residents of the Pointe Neighborhood recognized the need for childcare. In 1980, the federal government awarded the city of Salem an Urban Development Grant that included funding for childcare. In 1981, the City of Salem approached Christin Hatch to establish a childcare program. Salem Community Childcare is a minority- and women-owned non-profit governed by an elected parent board of directors. Since Christin Hatch's retirement in 2018, Anel Guzman has assumed the position of executive director of Salem Community Childcare.

Philosophy

At Salem Community Child Care, we want to help your child/ children become confident lifelong learners. We accomplish this by delivering diverse experiences and environments. These experiences will enhance the child's social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and creative development. While recognizing each learner is unique and has their own needs, interests, and abilities.
